Hello Jewels families,
I must start this communication with a thank you to our partners at Wesley AME Zion Church. The Women's Missionary Society donated a large amount of brand-new undergarments to our clothing closet. These donations will be used when students have an "accident" and need a change of clothes. They are also available for any family who has a need for them. Please contact our guidance counselor, Ms. Alston-Jones for more information.
February 1st was the kick-off of Black History Month which is nationally recognized and embedded in the NJDOE Educational Standards. Our students will be participating in various activities designed to educate, highlight and celebrate the contributions of African Americans to American society and culture.

*February 23 Theater Arts Presents “The Soul of America” at Willingboro High School
*February 27 4th Grade Blacks in Wax Walkthrough
*February 28, Students will present at an all-school assembly during the day with an encore performance for families that evening.
All of these events will be shared again as they come up.
We will also have Heart Day on February 14th in conjunction with the American Heart Association to promote Heart Health Awareness. More information will be coming soon regarding this event.

Our partners at Parkway Baptist Church are hosting a Black History Month activity and have extended an invitation for all of our community to participate. Please consider participating (I will the information in a separate communication)
Important Reminders:
Students are not permitted to wear slippers, slides or house shoes to school. These shoes are a safety hazard and do not provide adequate protection to your child's feet while in school. Wearing them in school is a violation of the school dress code.
There is no supervision for students being dropped off to school before the teacher start time at 8:40 AM. If you arrive before that time with your child you must remain with them until teachers are on duty. Dropping students off before 8:40 AM and leaving them unattended on school grounds places your student in a situation where there is no adult available or responsible for being sure they are monitored.
If you want to avoid the congestion in the school lot, you may park on the street along the walkway connected to the school or on any of the adjacent streets. There are crossing guards on duty to assist you and your child with crossing on to the property safely.
Student parties are not hosted in school. Treat bags and other party items will be passed out to students at the end of the school day.
Willingboro School District has a uniform dress code. All students are required to adhere to the policy. This is not a Principal Ash rule. This is a board approved mandate that is enforced by all teachers and staff at WRJ, including Principal Ash. If you are concerned about your child being cold please be sure that they wear a long sleeve shirt underneath the uniform shirt. If you need more uniform attire, please contact Ms. Bennett (gbennett@wboe.net).
Please be reminded that uniform violations are a Code of Conduct violation and may be responded to with board approved disciplinary actions, including but not limited to withdrawal of privileges, such as participation in extracurricular activities, recess and field trips)

Hoodies are not part of the dress code and should be removed when the student enters the classroom.
